The Harmonica Man

A retired Scottish-born man should have died long ago. But after facing death on more than one occasion, he decided to share his secret to happiness ... music.
Rarely, have I been emotionally moved to such an extent, as I beheld a dynamo of such power that is evident within his acts of pure giving and sharing. To me, this may be a glimpse into the way we once were - and the way we must strive to become again, if we are to remain viable, as a form of life on this planet.

Food Fight

This video rips right to the core of what's really killing inner city Americans: food.
Processed food, to be exact: the nutrient-depleted, overly-refined, pasteurized homogenized GMO-contaminated pesticide-sprayed food that kills blacks, whites and everyone else by the millions every year.
There's only one music video that stands out in loving contrast against the self-destructive gangsta rap we've all been inundated with over the years: Food Fight moved me to tears and inspired me with the hope that humanity may yet survive the curse of corporate destruction. This video tells the story that even Michelle Obama dare not utter, for it's the true story of how inner city kids, teens and adults are being decimated by GMOs, processed foods, energy drinks and other contortions of the corporate food factory regime.
We ALL need to be food fighters! That means fighting for food justice across America, and especially in the inner cities where the availability of healthy food is limited (by design). There is an agenda in America right now to keep inner city people diseased, dumbed-down, cognitively impaired and nutritionally deficient. The vector of attack is the food supply and vaccines. The motivation behind this is to make sure people can be easily dominated by the system. The food is poison, and it kills orders of magnitude more people than guns, or auto accidents or anything else, including pharmaceutical medicine.
The creators of this video are food fighters. Ultimately, we are all spiritual warriors because what we're fighting for is more than mere substance; we are fighting for the soul of humanity.

Les Miserables

To love another person is to see the face of God.

The immense popularity of this story has not diminished over time. Since the original 1935 film version, there have been several other international films entitled Les Misérables including a Spring 1998 release starring Liam Neeson and Uma Thurman. The "most popular musical in the world" has toured the globe several times and has been running on Broadway since March 1987. Why does this story continue to charm and inspire audiences and readers? In our time, as there was in Victor Hugo's, there is cause for despair: greed and violence undermine true progress; human life is rendered meaningless through materialism and nihilism; children the world over suffer neglect, poverty, and ignorance. Who does not identify with Jean Valjean's arduous journey through the sewers, and who does not long for an escape like his emergence into the pristine Parisian dusk? Hugo illustrates how the most profound revolution takes place in our individual consciences, how every moment we are faced with decisions to do right or wrong, and how to make in our hearts pitched battles against our own worst impulses. Les Misérables incites us to make the best fight of our lives the fight to become authentically good people and gives us hope that our efforts will not be in vain. Time cannot change the necessity or urgency of that message - only people can.

Maurice Béjart

Maurice Béjart (1927-2007) made his debut, first as a dancer and then as a choreographer, in Paris. In 1960, he formed his own company, the Ballet du XXe Siècle, in Brussels (Belgium). 25 years later, the troupe relocated to Lausanne (Switzerland) to be renamed Béjart Ballet Lausanne. Maurice Béjart puts down roots wherever his work takes him.
His first great triumph came in 1959, when Béjart created his monumental Sacre du Printemps for Maurice Huisman, the new director of Théatre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. This ballet paved the way for the launch of Ballet du XXe siècle in 1960, which triumphed on numerous worldwide tours. The Sacre Du Printemps was followed by his most famous work to this day, Ravel’s Bolero, and later by Messe Pour Le Temps Présent and The Firebird. Developing a marked taste for cultural diversity, Béjart went on to create works that expressed the core of different civilizations in the form of dance (Bhakti, Golestan, Kabuki, Dibouk, Pyramide) and illustrated a rich musical repertoire extending from Wagner to Boulez.

The Song Of The Earth

David Attenborough on the evolution of song.
Some birds make sounds that are musical to our ears. Consider the skylark, whose melodious sounds we label as song. So it’s quite natural to wonder whether there is a connection between animal sounds and the music that humans create. The deepest mystery of all: What purpose does music serve? Famed naturalist Sir David Attenborough examines various exotic members of the animal kingdom for clues to this fascinating puzzle.

Christian The Lion: Reunion

The furniture shop was on the King's Road in London. It sold tables, wardrobes, chairs and desks - but anybody peering through its plate-glass window on a Sunday might have noticed something rather more unusual. Amid all the pine and oak, stretched out languidly on a bench, there was a lion. And it wasn't stuffed.

"Christian used to lie beside me while I did the accounts at weekends," remembers Jennifer Mary Taylor, who worked there.
"And every so often, if I'd ignored him for too long, he'd sock me across the head with one of his great big paws.
"He was very loving and affectionate - he liked to stand and put his paws on your shoulders. But he was...", she pauses. "I mean, he was a lion. Does that sound silly?"

Christian the lion arrived in Chelsea at a time when the King's Road was the very heart of the Swinging Sixties. For a year, the big cat was part of it all, cruising the streets in the back of a Bentley, popping in for lunch at Casserole, a local restaurant, even posing for a Biba fashion advert. He eventually grew too big to be kept as a pet and was taken to Kenya, where he was rehabilitated into the wild by the 'Lion Man', George Adamson.
