Sour cherries, sweet cherries, serviceberries, mulberries, apricots, plums, crabapples, apples, pears, quince, grapes, peaches, sumac, black walnuts, pawpaw, elderberries, and ginkgo nut are some of the 1.5 million pounds of fruit grown in an unlikely place - the city of Toronto. A volunteer group, Not Far From The Tree, picks fruit from trees registered with the organization. The fruit is shared in thirds with the tree owners, the volunteers and local food banks and shelters, benefiting all three communities.
