The Independent Project

Wouldn’t it have been great to have the opportunity to run your own school within a school as a high school student? Students at one public school were given that opportunity and dubbed it “The Independent Project.” The curriculum they designed answered questions that wouldn’t normally be addressed in a public school classroom such as why people cry, how music affects the brain, and why art exists.

The Grand Rapids LipDub

The Grand Rapids LipDub Video was filmed May 22nd, with 5,000 people, and involved a major shutdown of downtown Grand Rapids, which was filled with marching bands, parades, weddings, motorcades, bridges on fire, and helicopter take offs. It is the largest and longest LipDub video, to date.

Saving The Bumblebee

This short film is about the plight of the humble bumblebee which has declined dramatically in numbers and range during the 20th Century, to the extent that half of the 25 British species are now rare and 2 are extinct.

Bumblebees are a significant pollinator of wild and agricultural flowering plants. Their continued decline has far reaching consequences on the wider ecology as the reproduction of many plants depends on insect pollination and, in turn, many animals, including humans, depend on the fruit and seeds provided by these plants.

The Man Who Planted Trees

The Man Who Planted Trees (French title L'homme qui plantait des arbres), is an allegorical tale by French author Jean Giono, published in 1953. It tells the story of one shepherd's long and successful singlehanded effort to re-forest a desolate valley in the foothills of the Alps near Provence throughout the first half of the 20th century. The tale is quite short—only about 4000 words long.


This is a 1987 Canadian short animated film directed by Frédéric Back. This 30-minute short film is narrated by Christopher Plummer, and produced by Radio-Canada. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, as well as several other awards that year.
